The Munich film school is the most prestigious of all the German film schools and one of
the oldest in Europe. Of more than 400 applicants every year, only fourteen are accepted
in the feature film department. Mr. Graef-Marino was not only accepted, but was also
granted a scholarship for his four years in school due to his outstanding talents as a young
filmmaker.
Former students of the HFF include: Roland Emmerich, a classmate of Mr. Graef-Marino
- director of "Independence Day" the most successful American film world wide in 1996,
Wim Wenders - multiple winner of the Cannes Film Festival, whose films include "Paris,
Texas", Bernd Eichinger - Producer, known worldwide commercially as well as
artistically for successful films such as: "Das Boot", "The name of the rose", "Smila's
sense of snow".

FILMWORK WITH DOUGLAS SIRK (DOCUMENTARY) TV Munich - Albatros Film Documentary about D. Sirk's last film "Bourbon Street Blues". 45 min. Writer / Director

Mr. Graef-Marino was allowed to direct a documentary on Mr. Sirk's work, on what
became Mr. Sirk's last film before he died a few years later. Mr. Graef-Marino's
documentary has been shown in a number of film festivals around the world, as well as on
German TV and at retrospectives of Mr. Sirk's work.
Albatros Film, the production company, discovered Mr. Graef-Marino only after one year
in the Munich Film school and offered him to direct the documentary. Albatros Film
produced more than 16 features of the late Rainer W. Fassbinder, the most outstanding
and acclaimed German director after WW II. Mr. Fassbinder also actively participated in
the documentary and worked as an actor in Mr. Sirk's "Bourbon Street Blues".

The production company Radiant Film is Mr. Wolfgang Petersen's company and Mr.
Graef-Marino's "The Voice" was one of the only projects this company has ever produced
for a third party director besides Mr. Petersen himself. Mr. Petersen is the
director/producer of films such as: "Das Boot" (Academy Award nominee: best foreign
film), "In the line of fire" (w/ Clint Eastwood), "Outbreak" (w/ Dustin Hoffman),
"Airforce One" (w/ Harrison Ford) and "The Perfect Storm" (w/ George Clooney).

For the first time in Chilean film history Mr. Graef Marino made a co-production between
this country, the US. and Mexico. The main characters are Mexican actors, also for the
first time in a Chilean movie. Armando Araiza as "Johnny", the lead, is one of the best
known and acclaimed young actors of Mexico. Through this film, Mr. Araiza was able to
secure representation and agents in Los Angeles who are managing his career in the US. now.
"Johnny 100 Pesos" was released 1994 in Chile and became one of the most
commercially successful films that year in Chile, while also becoming one of the biggest
box office blockbuster hits, for a Chilean film.
"Johnny 100 Pesos" was premiered 1994 in the Sundance Film festival and started Mr.
Graef-Marino's carrier in the USA. "Johnny 100 Pesos" was also the first Chilean film
that ever had a theatrical release in the USA. The film was invited to participate in many
film festivals around the world, becoming the Academy Awards ('Oscar') official
Chilean entry, the official Chilean entry for the "Goya" (Spanish 'Oscar'), the official
Chilean and only Latin American entry in competition at the A-film festival in Tokyo
1994 and, between others, the Chilean entry in competition at the Italian film festival in
Cattolica 1995, where the film got the 1st price for Best Film.

"Diary of An Old Man" was funded by Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung MDM and MEDIA.

In 1996 Francis Ford Coppola ("The Godfather I, II & III", "Apocalypse Now") optioned
"The Life To Come" through his company 'American Zoetrope'. Mr. Coppola and his
producers strongly believed in Mr. Graef-Marino's capacity to shoot a strong piece of
"epic movie making" and allow them a big, international American/European co-
production to be shot in South America. The project is currently in its financing stage.
Mr. Graef-Marino owns the right to the project.
