Lorenz Stassen
Screenwriter
Lorenz Stassen was born on the day of solstice (20th March) in 1969. He spend
his childhood years in Solingen, Germany and lives today in Cologne.
The biggest wish of his Mother was: Her son should become an engineer. There
are a lot of excellent engineers in Germany but only a few excellent
screenwriters. A good reason for Lorenz to ponder his profession of choice very
seriously. Following a short detour into the world of science he decided in 1990
to plunge into the media business.
His first feature film screenplay has been realized in 1992 under the title of
"Krautboys". The script was a collaboration with the film's director Hansjörg
Thurn. The roadmovie tells the story of a music band whose career fails because
they don't want leave home. The film premiered in 1993 in Hagen.
Besides being a writer Lorenz was a production assistant at various feature film
productions. Among them "Beneath the Milky Way" by M.X. Oberg, which has
largely been shot at Vilnius, Lituania.
In 1997 Lorenz finished his autodidactic studies with a screenplay for a feature
film. Though not realized to date it kicked off a many assignments for TV
shows, TV movies and feature films for the big screen. While searching for the
right producer for this project Lorenz made the acquaintance of producer Volker
Maria Arend. Their cooperation started back then and is continued to date
with the project "The Wood".
From 1997 - 1999 Lorenz wrote for several TV shows, like:
- "John Sinclair", the TV show of the German cult pulp novels.
- "Die Wache", TV-crime show, based upon the englische TV-show: "The bill"
- "Der Puma", TV martial-arts-show
- "Alarm für Cobra11", TV-action-show
- "Die Motorrad Cops", TV-action-show
In 1999 Lorenz became the head writer of the most expensive TV action show
"The Motorbike Cops". Even before it's airing in Germany the show has been sold
to various European Countries. Lorenz wrote the pilot and six episodes as well
as polished all 22 screenplays of the entire show. At this time he also founded
the "writing 4film GmbH" which develops show concepts and formats for TV.
As head writer Lorenz cooperated with well known writers and directors like
Sigi Rothemund, Helmut Metzger, Benedikt Gollhardt and Sven Ulrich.
In 1999 Lorenz wrote in colaboration with director Boris von Sychowski the
screenplay for the feature film "The Pool". The movie has been shot on location at
Prag und is distributed world wide be Senator Film. Released in German
theatres in 2001 it is available on Video and DVD since July 25th 2002.
Currently Lorenz works on his own projects and develops in cooperation with
Avalon Entertainment / Volker Maria Arend various feature film topics.
In private life he is married and recently became the proud father of a little
daughter.
